Reflecting

On the 4th September I started sixthform, and to be totally honest I had no idea what to expect. I was excited for what the next two years could bring me, but at the same I was feeling very nervous.

I have kept the same friendship group all the way through secondary school, and although I have met some wonderful people outside this group throughout those years, I still find it hard to talk to new people. The thought that I would be completely split up from this friendship barrier, and would be forced to mix with people I have never met or spoke to before slightly panicked me.
I think it's easy to get through your days in school knowing you have your friends to fall back on, but growing up means you have to learn to just push your self, stand on your own two feet and be the one who starts the conversation first.
I used to be someone who cared a lot about what people thought, and I'm usually very quiet around those I don't know, but since starting Sixthform these things have changed. I've learnt a very important thing being that, not every body is going to like you, and that's fine, it doesn't mean there is anything wrong with you. As long as you're being yourself and you're happy that's all that matters.
Sixthform is only for two years, so what would be the point in wasting your time worrying over little things that don't even matter.

So far I am enjoying my time at Sixthform. The work is a little harder, and I've already been hit with  coursework deadlines, and numerous essays I must complete, but that was expected and that's ok.
Despite the next two years being spent working towards achieving my A-levels, I also think it's going to be a big growing up experience.
I'll leave you there as I'm supposed to be catching up on Shakespeare, but I hope this has helped any of you who are in the same position, to realise that it really is going to be ok.

Current Favourite Mascaras

I'm usually quite picky with mascaras. I just feel a lot of them make my eye lashes resemble spiders legs, and that's not exactly the look I go for. I've been trying out various mascaras, some old and some new, and I have three which I am love love loving at the minute .

Mascara number one is one which I have loved for a long time now, and that is Body Shop Super Volume Mascara. The very short bristles on the applicator mean that there is no clumping, and my eye lashes appear much longer. The mascara it's self is a very intense black which helps make my lashes seem fuller. This mascara is usually priced at £10 which may seem like a lot for just a high street mascara but I think it is totally worth it, I have repurchased this twice now, and it is still a strong contender.

Mascara number two is the widely raved about Maybelline falsies mascara. It seems that everyone and their cat have tried this and have loved it, and I am one of them. Maybelline are one of my favourite brands for mascara for many reasons. They're so affordable, and the quality is excellent. This mascara only costs £7.99 and it definitely stands out from the rest in my opinion. I love that the applicator is curved which allow the bristles to fully coat every lash evenly.  Similar to the body shop mascara I find that this also does not clump my lashes, and they appear full and fanned out.

Mascara number three is a newly discovered gem from MAC. I had never tried any mac mascaras before but when it came to getting my makeup done for my prom I decided that I would buy the mascara which they had used on me, MAC Opulash mascara. The applicator is quite different from the other two, as the bristles are a lot longer and there are more of them. My lashes are not separated as well as they are with the other two mascaras, but I find that they appear very full and black. I do not need to apply as many coats with this mascara, only one is necessary. This is one of the more pricey mascaras at a cost of £14. I am not sure if I would repurchase this over the others I have tried but it is still definitely one of the best.

D.I.Y Photo Line

Today's post is going to be another little D.I.Y I have recently done for my bedroom. I have been seeing a lot of these photo lines around lately on websites such as pinterest, and Nouvelle Daily, and I thought it was so cute, I decided to have ago myself.

It's such an easy way to display all of your favourite photographs, cut outs, and even your memories. For this D.I.Y all you will need is...

I firstly took a piece of string about a meter long and found a wall I wanted my photo line to be on. Once I was happy with the position of the line, I used two push pins to secure it to the wall. If you will be pegging quite heavy pieces to your line, you may need to use more push pins to make sure that the line holds up.

Now your ready to simply peg up your favourite pictures, quotes, clippings, and whatever else you want to display. I bought my pegs from amazon and only paid about £2 for a pack of 100, so they're very affordable! I think this adds a lovely touch to a plain wall, which is why I tried this myself.

I hope your enjoyed this little D.I.Y, and I hope you have ago yourself.

Nails of the day

Just a little post for you today (My Garden is currently waiting for me).  With it being summer, I've been getting out all of my nail polishes and trying out different combo's, and the one I have been really loving at the minute is Essie's Bikini So Teeny, with Models own hedkandi in Ibiza Mix.

The Essie polish is one of my favourites I own, a very pretty purple/blue colour, and I've just been applying this to all of my nails, leaving out my ring fingers.

For my ring fingers, I have been using the models own glitter polish over a white polish from Avon. The glitter is a gorgeous mix of blue's, purple's and gold's, and it goes perfectly with the Essie polish.

I love this nail look, and I have been wearing it a lot over the summer so I thought I would share it with you, hope you liked this post,

Favourite summer Lipsticks

I'm not much of a dark lipstick lover, so when the summer comes around, it's the perfect chance for me to get out my much loved pinks and corals. I like to keep my summer makeup quite simple as I don't like wearing anything that has a chance to slip off in the melting heat, so I usually choose a lipstick to wear as I think it can completely change a look, and make it seem like you've spent ages getting ready when really you haven't at all.

I like to make sure that when I'm out and about that I always have a lipstick handy as its a lot easier to re- apply than your foundation or eye shadow. I've selected just a few of my favourites to share with you.

Lipstick no.1 - Sleek, Papaya Punch

This is by far one of my favourite shades for summer, bright coral. Since discovering the sleek lipsticks I have found myself wanting to go out and buy every single one, the range in colour is just great, and I love how they look on the lips. The only downside to this lipstick in my opinion,is that it can be a little dry, but with a little lip balm applied before, it's perfectly fine.

Lipstick no.2 - mua, shade 2

Lipstick number two is a berry beauty from mua. I love the mua lipsticks, as they are so so affordable at a teeny tiny price of £1! The fact that they are so cheap has no impact on the quality, I find they are just as good as some of my more expensive lipsticks. The only let down is that they don't last as long as some of the others, but the colour and consistency make up for that.

Lipstick no.3 - mua,shade 15, Juicy

Lipstick number 3 is another one from mua, this time in a pinky nude. I love wearing this lipstick when I want something a little less dramatic, but I still want to give my lips a little bit of colour. The texture of this lipstick is very creamy which makes it easy to apply, and I don't need to prep my lips with any lip balm before hand.

Lipstick no.4 - Revlon lipbutter, shade 095, Crème Brulee

The fourth lipstick is a slightly more toned down glossy number from the Revlon lip butter collection. I love the Revlon lipbutters as they are more like a lip balm than an actual lipstick, but they still give your lips a tiny bit of colour, and  keep them lovely and moisturised.

Lipstick no.5 - Rimmel moisture renew lipstick, shade 180, vintage pink

Lipstick number 5 is another pinky nude colour that I am absolutely loving for summer, from Rimmel London. Unlike the mua lipstick however, this has slight purple undertones, very pretty.

Lipstick no.6 - Barry M lip paint, shade 129

When I first went to try this lipstick it slightly scared me. The bullet it's self looks very bright and intimidating, it didn't look like the type of colour I would like and I didn't think that it would suit me at all. However, when applied I really fell in love with it. You think that it is going to be a very bright purple, however you can see from the picture that it is more pinky. The texture is super soft so I find it easier to apply this with a lip brush or I will just have it all over my face, but once I have it on, I really do love it.

So, that was my six favourite lipsticks for summer, I hope you enjoyed reading this, if you have any questions please leave them in the comments box and I will try to get back to you.
